Emma Nishimura has been announced as the 2023 guest speaker of the Alan Toff Art Lecture, presented by the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies. Nishimura's practice and ongoing research has focused on the experiences her family and thousands of other Japanese Canadians endured throughout their forced incarceration during WWII.
Emma Nishimura's presentation can be attended online or in-person, and will take place on Tuesday, June 20th.
This Alan Toff lecture will be in recognition of the passing of the beloved visual arts instructor. Alan Toff taught at the School of Continuing Studies for more than 30 years. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, although retired from teaching, Alan’s love of art and learning lives on in the Alan Toff Art Lecture series thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor. Previous presenters include Kent Monkman and Dr. Duke Redbird.
