The work of Suzanne Nacha is currently on view at Mayten's Gallery, Toronto, as part of a group show curated by Lindsay Montgomery. Running until May 21st, Earth Oracles features the work of 16 international artists who work with ceramics as their primary medium.
"The artists included in Earth Oracles accept the vastness and possibilities of the universe beyond the known or hidden within the mundane."
With her two works on display, Nacha's sculptures appear as anthropomorphized rock-bodies, each, a standing figure, seems totemic in isolationat and the intersection of geology, humour and pathos. These works have been created using coloured porcelain and stoneware, and are part of the ongoing series entitled Sad Clowns of the Anthropocene.
