SNAP for ACT, Toronto's premier photographic art auction, celebrated its 20th anniversary last week with an energetic virtual event hosted by Cowley Abbott Auctioneers. The work of Ryan Van Der Hout was under the hammer, with his piece going for well above asking. Extinguished is from the artist's Collecting Dust series, and is a 20 x 24 in. archival pigment print that was secured by a lucky collector for $2,500 (valued at $2,000 CAD). The funds from art purchases and donations will help ACT deliver programming to their service users, and continue their mission to be present and prominent in the work to end HIV.
Congratulations to Ryan, and to the SNAP organisers for a successful and vibrant 2022 edition.
Ryan Van Der Hout is exhibiting his continued exploration of the Collecting Dust series in an upcoming solo exhibition this May, 2022. This exhibition will be presented as part of the core programming of the Scotiabank Contact Festival.
