Nothing But Net is a basketball term that refers to a score made without the player touching the rim, a display of great skill and precision. The title of this installation piece utilises this phrase in a literal interpretation, as the net has been exaggerated and is seemingly endless. In this work, the net is constructed of a vintage fruit-collecting bag, seed and feed sacks, and burlap bags that were used by farm labourers, forging a connection between laborious work and the athleticism of professional sports. The task here is unachievable, as the bag is closed and elongated beyond reason to exemplify systematic barriers that continue to hinder the ability to score.
